Education Tax Relief

One of the things I have been working on recently is tax relief for the education sector. In conjunction with the Independent Schools' Association of Zambia, we are developing a submission to the Ministry of Finance making the case for sectoral tax relief. Some of the ideas in the submission include making school fees an allowable deduction for individuals, which would help with PAYE, and taxing schools on distributable profits rather than earnings, which would help with corporation tax. It is difficult to assess the likelihood of success in this venture, but you never know until you try.
