An ongoing process...
Hard to sum up a child in a report, but this is what teachers have to do at the end of a semester. Learner Profile, curriculum, year level expectations, summative assessments are carefully considered, but this may still not represent the entire growth of a child. However, this is an expectation at any school. Observe, plan and report! There are so many things children learn in a year from the environment they are in. It is hard to quantify. Some may learn at a quicker pace than others, but they all learn different things. As someone wise said "Don't compare you child to others. There's no comparison between the sun and the moon. They both shine when it's their time!"
Teachers are now working on the reports for all their students as they continue to complete their daily planning, preparation for lessons, complete their marking, update their inventories, plan and accompany children on field trips- both , residential and otherwise, come prepared for their chats with me.... whoa!
Please give them a hug or a pat on the back for all the work they put in during the year. They need to be celebrated! Three cheers to our teachers!! Hip Hip Hooray!
