Our first virtual town hall of the year got off to a good start on Thursday with many parents along with teachers and staff, over 50 people in total. I was grateful for the many supportive and appreciative comments made about our school’s response to the crisis.
A couple of points came up with which we have been struggling in school:
- Is the screen time too much or about right?
- How can we make our HBL programme more creative and engaging?
- What can we do to add some recreational opportunities for children either on campus or at home.?
These are all great questions that we are trying to answer. I met with the principals to have a go, but we soon realized that there are many more creative teachers on staff than are we, so I have asked the principals to actively seek ways forward from their faculty. If you have any thoughts you'd like to share with us, why not leave a comment below?
The question of discounting did come up in the sidebar at the virtual town hall and I didn’t address it, which was an oversight rather than an intention. I have given the matter some thought in a separate blog post.
Hi, the screen time is just right especially for the younger children. My daughter loves it when she gets her books back to see her teachers comments in them as it makes her feel like she is almost in school.
ReplyDeleteHello and thank you for the feedback. I'm glad your daughter is making the best of it.
