We have had a great first week back at school!
We reported 75% attendance the first day and since then the number of students attending campus has increased with each passing day. We do have a few students arriving this weekend and I am sure our classes will be full next week with maybe a couple of exceptions.
It is wonderful to see our campus, back to life with students, listen to their chatter, and hear their laughter in the playground. The classrooms are bustling with learning engagements and the teachers are working hard to ensure students are not left behind in any way.
The number of students in the Early Years Learning Centres- EYLC ( Nursery and Preschool combined) have increased and we are very excited about this. We started with one EYLC and we now have two EYLCs with over 20 children in each class! We welcome on board Ms. Caroline Sikwese who works together with Ms. Lucy Scorgie, and the teaching assistants- Ms. Priscilla, Ms. Mwansa and Ms. Thendai in the second EYLC.
A big "Thank you" to the students, teachers, and parents for their cooperation and understanding each day. It is hard to be in school - wearing masks, maintaining distances, and avoiding hugs ( especially in the Early Years!). But we have learned over the last two years this is the new protocol and I am glad to report we are all doing our very best to maintain it!
The positivity rate has started showing a decline and we hope this persists. Our school COVID Task Force meets each week and we discuss the way forward with school activities, protocols, and requirements. We will keep updating you via emails and blog posts of any changes as and when they happen.
More in the next blog!
