Ask ISL - Abbreviations

In almost all your communication it appears abbreviations. They probably make perfect sence to most of you staff but when communicating with parents we are certainly not on the same page of knowledge. Please use abbreviations – but remember to spell them out one time (like it’s usually done).

Answer

Hello and thank you for using Ask ISL. I suspect the actual issue is acronyms - such as PYP - rather than abbreviations. I will mail the staff and ask them to avoid or define acronyms.

Here are some common acronyms we use:
  • IB - International Baccalaureate
  • IBPYP, PYP - Primary Years Programme
  • IMYC - International Middle Years Curriculum
  • IGCSE - International General Certificate of Secondary Education
  • IBDP, DP - International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
  • MAP - Measures of Academic Progress
  • SS - Social Studies
  • LT - Leadership Team
  • MT - Management Team
  • MPC - Multipurpose Centre
