Important: ISL Strategic Planning Alumni Survey
Dear ISL Alumni,
Following on from my email about the strategic planning “Parent Survey,” some of you who are parents may also be alumni of ISL. An “Alumni Survey” has been created and now shared, here. This survey ensures that all alumni have the opportunity to voice their opinion about where the school was in the past and its direction into the future. Being an alumnus/alumna of our school means that you have a unique connection to and perspective of the school, from a historical point of view.
Please take a few minutes and complete the survey. I really appreciate you taking the time.
Important: ISL Strategic Planning Parent Survey
Dear ISL parents,
As you may know, ISL has engaged the 5Rs Partnership (www.5rspartnership.com), a specialist independent education research and strategy company based in Singapore, to support our school in its future strategic development.
Last month the founder and principal of the group, Dr Stephen Holmes, visited our campus for over a week, holding meetings with various stakeholders in order to get a better sense of the school's ethos.
Building on these focus-group conversations, a “Parent Survey” has been created and now shared, here, with all ISL parents. This survey ensures that all parents have the opportunity to voice their opinion about where the school is currently situated and its direction into the future.

Year 12's DoE SIlvier Expedition
We are very proud of our 18 Year 12 students for successfully completing their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition. They withstood rains and navigated the rugged terrain with lots of resilience and team work. Well done students....we look forward to Gold next year
Year 13 trip to Lotri Bay
Year 13's returned from a week long fun and relaxing trip to Lotri Bay, Kariba. Fishing, Stone Art, Canoeing, Pontoon cruises into the main lake, Hiking, Nature walk etc....were some of the activities they enjoyed engaging with and have returned with memorable moments of their final school year trip that they will cherish for their life.
Year 12's present CAS Theatre Night
When you think of CAS, the first thing that comes to mind is: Self-development. CAS encourages us to use our experiences to grow into well-rounded people.
Our group intends to interact with our community, while simultaneously honing our skills in various fields, to achieve the most out of CAS. Thus, we have decided to work with an NGO called Footprints of Hope, to aid them in achieving their goals by using whatever means available to us. In terms of Service, for us teenagers, the simplest way to assist an organization is by fundraising. The most obvious approach was earning money through bake sales, which we did, although it quickly became tedious. In fact, part of the money to was coming from our parents, thus limiting our own involvement.

Year 13 student Arnav Khanna represents Zambia in FGC
I recently participated in the FIRST Global Challenge (FGC) in Geneva, Switzerland, representing Team Zambia as the Deputy Captain. This is my third year of participation since I was 12, but every year, I come back overwhelmed with experiences and interactions while leaving a mark on the global map.
FGC is an Olympics-style robotics competition that brings youth from over 180 countries to solve global challenges using their skills, abilities, and talents with grand engineering challenges using STEM and robotics. This year's theme was “Carbon Capture”, i.e., cooperating internationally to develop technologies to store CO2 and reduce carbon footprints. While the event was a competition, its emphasis on international cooperation makes it unique. Again, we are reminded that most robots lose, but we must ensure that all humans win.
