How do 2-4 year olds learn in classrooms? What does their programme look like?
This is a question asked by many parents...
The curriculum offered for our young friends at ISL is based on the Primary Years Programme (PYP) from the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Though this programme starts for students from the age of 3, here at ISL our 2 years olds too begin the process of exploration, hands-on inquiry and investigation. Emphasis is placed on self-directed learning.
Children learn through play and this is significant for their growth. Understanding children as they join us is given great importance and teachers and parents work together to assist the child in their initial years at school. We deem it important for children at this age to be provided with opportunities to build their skills, search, inspect, analyse, develop and share their understandings.
Our experienced faculty allow students to learn at their own pace and provide comfort and safety in their new environment away from home. They nurture the needs and wants of our young students ensuring there is progress in their learning.
Assessments are based on observations, one to one conversations, and anecdotal records and is generally formative in nature.
