The Student Council is made up of an Executive Committee and Class Representatives (Homeroom/Class “Reps”) elected by their peers from Years 7 through 13. The Class Reps were elected at the beginning of the year. On Thursday December 9th 2021 the Secondary students will elect their Executive Committee members who will serve from January 2022- December 2023. The Executive Committee is comprised of:
President (Year 11 or 12 student)
Vice President (Year 11 or 12 student)
Secretary (Year 10, 11 or 12 student)
Treasurer (Year 10, 11 or 12 student)
Public Relations and Media Coordinator (Year 10, 11 or 12 student)
Student Health, Welfare and Environment Representative (Year 10, 11 or 12 student)
Events and Activities Coordinator(Year 10, 11 or 12 student)
Middle School Representative(Year 7,8 or 9 student)

Executive Committee nomination forms have been made available to all Secondary students. The deadline to submit the nomination to Ms. Bloem, the Counselor, is Thursday 2nd December. Nominations require the parents' permission.
While there are designated jobs, at the end of the day, this is a team effort and therefore responsibilities will be shared and everyone will be expected to contribute equally regardless of whether or not it is their job.
Executive Committee roles:
President/Vice President:
The President’s/Vice President’s main role is to represent all Secondary students and give a voice to students' concerns. Likewise, they are the formal body through which the teachers, parents and administration may approach the students with their issues. They are to address students and teachers when making announcements on upcoming events. They are also responsible for delivering speeches at events such as UN-Zambia their class graduation. Other than this, they frequently send emails regarding student council events. They are also asked to attend meetings with teachers to provide the students’ point of view. During council meetings, they sometimes help lead the meeting as well as passing on ideas given by teachers to the council. When there is work that must be done by other members, it is also their responsibility to check that it is of the quality needed and before events and fundraisers, it is their responsibility to ensure everything is in place. They also help give roles and jobs to other members. The roles of president and vice president work hand in hand as they are partners in anything they do. They are expected to support each other. They both make announcements to students but the president generally does the speeches.
Secretary
Writing down notes of discussions during meetings to keep a record.
Reminding other members' deadlines and what they need to do.
Proofreading emails sent by the president.
Helping dictate meetings and making a summary of the meeting at the end to ensure all the tasks are clear.
Helping other members with their tasks to meet their STUCO deadlines.
Treasurer
Handles the cash flow from fundraisers
Collects receipts from organizing of events to get reimbursed from the STUCO account
Calculates profit and loss, deduces whether or not events would be viable
Also takes a large role in organizing events to make sure that we are on a budget which is based on the bank balance and the executive committee.
Comes up with prices for items sold at fundraisers to ensure that there is maximum profit while staying fair to the students.
Public Relations and Media Coordinator
Making sure the student council is visible to all students
Sending out emails to teachers regarding certain events and activities the students council has organized
Ensure that all students are aware about the events organized
Allowing students to speak their voice through the student council
Student Health, Welfare and Environment Representative
Supporting and approaching to students with behavioural, mental health or welfare issues
Supporting other members in the committee
Works with Student Council members to develop programs that promote the health and wellbeing of all students
Events and Activities Coordinator
Brainstorms ideas for new events
Plans and organizes the set events for every year while trying to ensure student participation.
Ensure that events planned can be done within school or in the chosen area
Plan events according to the student consensus and interest
Ensuring events go according to plan on the day itself.
Middle School Representative
Represents the entire Middle School in Executive Committee meetings
Keeps the Middle School Class Reps informed of all Executive Committee decision
