Leading the way

ISL sets the trend for all schools to follow!!
Our students on the 5th of December worked hard to plant close to 100 plants (some saplings and some shrubs) at ISL. Both Secondary and Primary students participated in this noble venture from 8:00 a.m. The students were joined by the Mayor of Lusaka who arrived at school by 11:30 hours.

The Mayor was welcomed by the students and worked together with them to complete planting trees near the MPC which we hope will soon become the "school orchard". The Mayor sincerely appreciated and applauded the efforts of the school, students, and staff to make the school environment even more green.  ISL was presented with the trophy for being the first school to take part in his initiative of planting 100 trees for every tree cut. He hopes this will be a great start for all schools to bring back the trees to Lusaka.

Our quest continues.....Ameena Chhadat  ( Year 5 student) gave the Mayor a letter asking him to identify areas in Lusaka where we can plant more trees. The Year 5's are visiting a farm soon to plant another 100 trees. Mrs. Nazia Alloo, a parent has very kindly decided to extend her support in changing one of our walkways ( the one that is used to walk to the Nursery classroom) into a rockery too! So many great ideas!!

Do join us in our journey to revive the lush landscape we have lost due to road expansion :)
