Lusaka Forum on the Future of Education : Our Panel

Dorothy Kasanda’s impressive history in education extends over thirty years. Since 2007, she has served at CAMFED Zambia as Head of Programmes, Deputy Executive Director, Director for Partnerships, National Director and in her current role as Executive Advisor for Partnerships.

Dorothy began her career in education as a teacher of English and French and Head of Languages in several Zambian high schools. She quickly rose through the ranks to Senior Education Officer.

Dorothy holds a Doctoral Degree in Sociology, a Master's Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Education, as well as numerous professional qualifications.


Bentry Nkhata is currently a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education and is the Dean of the School of Education at the University of Zambia. He works on curriculum development and supervises PhD candidates in theses involving mathematics education, among other duties.

Bentry has a PhD from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, an MA from King’s College London and a BA from the University of Zambia.

Bentry has been involved in many wonderful projects such as consulting for the World Bank funded Zambia Education Enhancement Project. 

Mashudu Lembede is the Country Chief Executive for Bureau Veritas Zambia. Mashudu began her career as a geologist in the platinum and coal industries before transitioning to the commodities business.

Mashudu is passionate about education and entrepreneurship and is currently the South African ambassador for the Women in Africa Initiative, an international platform supporting African female leaders of great potential.

Mashudu has a Master's in Management from Wits Business School and a BSc from the University of Witwatersrand.

Oli Tooher-Hancock is currently Director at the American International School of Lusaka - a worthy competitor to International School. She received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in the USA. Oli serves as Board President for the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE), where conversations are also focusing on the future of education.




Christopher Jannou is an award-winning producer, author, hotelier and serial entrepreneur.  He is the founder and CEO of The Urban Hotel Group, a lifestyle brand of hotels and residences rolling out across Africa including tonight’s venue, the newly opened Urban Hotel Lusaka.

In 2015, Jannou authored ‘The Internationalists: Globalization, the Age of Information and the Developing World Ascent.'  He is a frequent speaker on globalization and macro trends shaping the new economy.
