Parenting in the Digital Age

Mrs. Reddy (ICT Teacher), Mrs. Vaitheeswaran (Computer Science Teacher) and Ms. Sekai (School Counselor) held a session for parents focusing on digital citizenship, cyber security and digital well-being.

The discussion included raising awareness of Digital Citizenship and guiding students on how to be good digital citizens. When we speak of Digital Citizenship, there are three facets of the Digital citizenship- digital agent, digital interacter and digital self. We discussed about using technology to enhance communication, engaging respectfully online with people who have different beliefs than you and determining the validity of online sources of information. The conversation then shifted its focus to staying safe online and how to remain vigilant when using technology in the same way that we take great efforts to be safe in person. Finally, we shared a few tips and strategies to encourage Digital Well-being in our families. Click here  to watch a recording of the full session.
